Zero Liquid Discharge

Freshwater scarcity and concerns about the environmental impact of industrial wastewater discharges make it important to recycle and reuse water, which is an increasingly valuable resource.

As regulatory challenges, environmental vulnerabilities and long-term water supply problems increase, many industrial companies are considering ways to reduce their water discharges through Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) processes.
Our company innovates with evaporation and crystallization technology in many applications, including wastewater reduction and zero liquid waste.
We offer multiple design options for the optimal system to meet each unique customer requirement to achieve zero discharge or waste reduction goals, including recovered water quality, energy consumption, minimized capital and operating costs, and ease of operation.

The capacity of the evaporation and crystallization system varies from 40 liters to over 5 m3 per minute per unit.

Falling film evaporators, sometimes referred to as brine concentrators, are excellent technology for efficient heat transfer, high purity distillate production, and achieving over 90% water recovery. The recovered water in the brine concentrator is suitable as a cooling tower or scrubber feed and can be returned to other production processes including demineralizer feed water. These wastewater evaporators can be powered by mechanical steam recompression (MVR) or live steam depending on the relative cost of electricity and steam.

Crystallizers are designed to continuously crystallize various dissolved salts, which can sometimes be recovered as valuable by-products. Wastewater crystallizers are used to concentrate wastewater from brine and, when equipped with solids dewatering, are a true zero liquid discharge system. These crystallizers usually use live steam as the heat transfer medium, but in some cases they can use MVR technology to recycle the steam to reduce energy consumption and operating costs.
