To purify the exhaust gases from titanium tetrachloride production from HCl and Cl2, the customer used Soviet-made spray scrubbers operating on lime milk.
The equipment had insufficient cleaning efficiency and also suffered from the problem of nozzles clogging with lime, which led to further loss of efficiency and required constant maintenance.
In addition, due to the high drop rate from the existing scrubbers, the customer required the use of additional drop control cyclones, which limited space on site.
Our specialists conducted a comprehensive audit of the gas treatment system, based on the results of which a program for modernizing gas treatment equipment was developed in order to achieve updated state environmental requirements.
During the research, we identified the main problems of this treatment unit and selected the best available technology for its modernization. The choice of solutions was based on eliminating the customer’s problems described above during the modernization.
Based on the results of the audit, technical solutions were developed, an equipment manufacturer was found, work was carried out to coordinate and adapt engineering solutions, and a centrifugal scrubber model ZK-280-3 with a diameter of 2.8 m and a height of 13.5 m was manufactured from FRP.
The delivery also includes circulation pumps, a fan, all necessary valves and instrumentation, and a control cabinet.
The equipment has been manufactured and accepted by the customer. Estimated commissioning date is the end of 2023 year.
