Spiral separators AKA-SPIN sorting devices, separating material in the range of from 0.04 to 4 mm. Throughput in a single spiral about 1 – 4 t/h. To increase the bandwidth of 2 or 3 spirals are combined into one column. Several colon with screw separators can be combined into blocks with 2, 4, 6 and 8 columns with one dispenser for supplying material and modular trays for discharging the products.

Principle of operation

The slurry with solid content of 10 to 40 % (depending on the specific case) is fed to the screw separator. Distributed over the bottom of a spiral separator, slurry under the action of gravity flows down. This main flow is superimposed transverse, directed to the inner wall of the tray of the spiral or to the outer surface of the sludge. This combination leads to separation contained in the slurry particle density characteristics. Particles with lighter specific gravity, such as wood, coal or particles of organic origin, accumulate on the external area of the stream. The higher density particles are transferred to the axis of the spiral separator.
